Giving drum'n'bass a bad name since 2000
La casa Fantom is a two piece orchestra from the forest outside of Oslo in Norway. The band consist of Lars on drums and Bård on bass, both sing or at least trying to. Our band was formed in 2000 with a cheap crappy drumkit and a bass with selfmade distortion effects. Our name comes from a do it yourself wine kit which gives you 20 liter of redwine in 24 hours. It was just like our music, fast&dirty with a lot of nerves.
We have been playing for 8 years now and had our first concert at Blitz in Oslo. We recorded our first demo in the livingroom of our collective in the forest, where we both lived for a time and Lars still lives. The album was made in two days with a kiddy drumkit and a 4-track tapemachine. Then we upgraded a bit and recorded “Serum” in the same living room.
Due to small space and our roommates not so happy about us rehearsing two times a week in the living room, we built our own studio "Iskremboden" in the winter 2002. Since then we have recorded and released three 7” ("Leter I mørket", "Familien" and "Cut") and three 12” ("La casa Fantom", "Ingen ny dag" and "Fredløs"), on our label “Iskrem Plater”. We also make festivals and have bands play concerts in Iskremboden. During these years we have had the luck of touring in 18 countries until now. We feel very lucky to be able to travel around like this and have made many friends that we still come back too see and that also visit us. We feel that this is one of the greatest things about touring in our scene. There is no border between the bands and the audience and we share a lot of opinions about our lives and the envirement around us.
Our music is difficult to describe, it has its roots in punk and hardcore but we have always been fans of taking from all the music we like and mix it in. Borders exists also in music and we always want to breake them. When we play live we like to give everything that the music expresses: the intensity, the aggression and the emotions.
